While in the midst all of the A level's havoc and panic, let us take a moment to observe the life occurring around us.

Probably many of us Alevel-goers are numb to the world out there that is in real turmoil. And so i got about to ponder about the recent APEC and subsequent diplomatic exchanges between Obama and many leaders of our time.

Recently, i read this article about how people are treating China like a massive ATM. if your company needs money, simply invest in China, advertise well enough and your finances are secured. And it is no surprise that many US firms are doing so. Well why won't they when their accounts are going up in flames, shareholders are breathing down the necks of managers and there is a place in the world which somehow doesn't seem to be much affected by the financial crisis and with a huge spending power to boot. (oh and did i mention a severely undervalued currency) sounds like a miracle.

so, the scramble for financial security has blinded us to the many other sides of China. Obama's visit to China seems so economic-centered (ok some of you will say they talked about environment and Copenhagen but honestly...) Obama, besides being the leader of a superpower in economic distress, is also a nobel peace price laureate. China, besides being a country with huge potential for investment and economic strength to save US, happens to be a country with human rights issues as well. And if we were to really read into what is missing in Obama's visit to China, it seems to be about peace and human rights. So now we have a nation willing to go to war in middle east because of WMD but yet can avoid the pressing issue of human rights problems in China. Talk about selective diplomacy.

Oh and on a sidenote. Econs paper was totally awesomely screwed. Half the time i had no idea what i was writing. the other half the time, i wasnt writing. why am i thinking about peace in the world when I'm in the middle of war...
